SUNDAY, DEC. 5, 1999 - Ray Connolly (cq), 61, of Edwardsville holds his 5-month-old granddaughter, Madison Falgout. The child is blind as a result of shaken baby syndrome. Her grandmother, Sue Connolly, 46, has put up set of blinking star Christmas lights over the baby's bassinet, hoping she can see some light. Madison is also paralyzed from the waste down, another result of a brutal shaking by her father, Murphy Falgout, 28, who is being jailed as he awaits trial.
