ROAD AHEAD 038

MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 15, 2003 - Students in Janis Smith's second grade class at Pierre Laclede Elementary School, 5821 Kennerly Avenue, raise their hands Monday to participate in a role-playing story about the "girl who cried wolf!"
Smith was teaching her students to recognize the moral in a story. In this case, "do not lie."
Pierre Laclede Elementary School was awarded the 2003 No Child Left Behind--Blue Ribbon Schools award Monday by U. S. Secretary of Education Rod Paige.
The No Child Left Behind--Blue Ribbon Schools Program is part of President George W. Bush's No Child Left Behind education reform and recognizes schools that dramatically improve student performance and schools from disproportionately disadvantaged backgrounds that perform at the highest levels.
